Background
The camshaft position sensor (also known as the camshaft impulse sender or Hall sensor) is mounted on the cylinder head or cylinder head cover, depending on the model. It ensures precise fuel injection and ignition timing, making professional diagnosis and timely replacement essential.
Symptoms
As these sensors age, failures become more common. Typical symptoms include:
Hard start or no-start condition (especially when hot)
Intermittent stalling
Rough idle and misfires
Hesitation or loss of power
Extended cranking times
Poor fuel economy
Check engine light
Because these symptoms can mimic a faulty crankshaft position sensor, many owners replace both at the same time.
