OZ Ultraleggera HLT Center Lock wheels are low pressure cast and heat treated. Low pressure casting uses positive pressure to move the molten aluminum (Al Si 7 Mg) into the mold more quickly and achieves a finished product that is denser than a gravity cast wheel. Low-pressure casting has a slightly higher production cost over gravity casting but offers superior durability and excellent value. The heat-treating process reestablishes the structural integrity and strength of the material, which are compromised in the initial iron and steel work processes.

High Light Technology (HLT) uses rollers to compress and elongate the material along the barrel of a low-pressure cast aluminum wheel to obtain the desired profile. This process, which is directly derived from O.Z.'s experience in racing, produces a wheel that is extremely light and strong. The flow forming process and the HLT technologies combine to create mechanical characteristics like those of a forged wheel. This permits a dramatic reduction in wheel weight while enhancing structural rigidity vs. a standard cast wheel.
