This Jekyll and Hyde muffler is specially developed for the 997.1 3.8 L Carrera S (not for Carrera) in the German Market. It is the perfect compromise for you and your loved ones. Rich, deep race car tones with the valves open and soft subtle, stock-like sounds that can pass TÜV with them closed. This muffler complements Porsche's racing heritage by offering an unmistakable GT3 Cup-like exotic motorsport exhaust note with the valves open. This muffler is the best choice for a daily driver.

Our Brombacher Edition 997.1 sport muffler set varies greatly from designs that are common in the aftermarket. Our muffler set is uniquely made from T316 motorsport lightweight grade stainless steel, with double perforated sound absorption tubes based on the Halbgegenstromprinzip (half counter current principle). The acoustic silencer absorption tubes are made in a trapezoidal pattern and are perforated with varying diameters. This design isolates and dampens the unwanted frequencies that create drone.
Perforated tubes also create much less flow restriction than baffle plates at higher gas velocities, and consequently translates into performance gains throughout the entire rev range with better throttle response.

The resulting sound exhibited is a sonorous factory GT3 Cup sound in the mid-range and top of the rpm band with the valves open. This sound is not a coincidence as our entire “Brombacher” line of exhausts is manufactured by M&M Exhaust, GmbH in Germany. They manufacture a multitude of Porsche Motorsport and Racing Exhausts.
Each system is tested comprehensively for flow characteristics/rate, thermal stress, cracking, and longevity. Please note: This muffler set is for cars that have the standard 3.8 L end mufflers and tips, not the Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE). This set requires the double round 3.8 L Carrera Tips, please note the necessary exhaust tip design in the pictures above. This muffler set is designed for us in Germany to pass TÜV. The decibels will be extremely low to meet the strict limits set by the TÜV in Germany with the valves closed. Also, there is a break-in period of about 500 miles on the street / 250 on the track before the decibels change (get louder) with the valves open.
