BOSCH Starter Motor for Porsche 964 / 993 / 996 / 997 – New Part

If the starter motor in your Porsche begins to show signs of wear, we recommend replacing it before it fails completely. Typical symptoms of a worn starter include:

Clicking noises when starting
Delayed response when turning the key
Metallic squealing or grinding noises during startup

Replacing the starter early can help prevent an unexpected breakdown.

Suitable for various Porsche models with Mezger engines, including:

Porsche 964
Porsche 993 including Turbo
Porsche 996 Turbo / GT2 / GT3
Porsche 997 Turbo / GT2 / GT3

Installation recommendation:
When replacing the starter, inspect the rubber protective cover, part number 996 604 118 00. This cover helps prevent moisture from entering the starter area and should be free of cracks or other damage.

We also recommend inspecting the ground cable and all related mounting hardware. Worn, damaged, or corroded components should be replaced at the same time.

Important note:
The starter motor part number has been superseded several times over the years. Current-production starters may therefore look slightly different from the original units fitted to Porsche 964 and 993 models. Fitment and function remain the same.
