Background
The original front strut mounts used on Porsche 911 models from 1969–89 and 914 models from 1970–76 featured rubber-isolated bushings engineered for comfort and for the tire technology of the period—primarily bias-ply tires. While well-suited for relaxed road use, these compliant rubber elements allow noticeable flex under load. During cornering, braking, or quick transitions, the bushing deflection can shift the intended camber angle, reducing precision at the front axle.

With today's high-grip radial tires, the limitations of those factory rubber mounts become far more apparent. The additional compliance makes it difficult—often impossible—to achieve or maintain the extra negative camber needed for confident, predictable handling on spirited mountain drives, club events, and performance-oriented street setups. The resulting camber movement leads to inconsistent steering feedback and a vague front end, motivating many owners to upgrade to a more rigid, motorsport-inspired solution that delivers stability and control.

Usage
The FVD Brombacher RSR Style Front Monoball Camber Plate is CNC-machined from high-strength aluminum and equipped with the latest low-profile, precision motorsport monoball. This oversized bearing allows free, non-binding articulation while keeping the strut top located with absolute accuracy. The design is compatible with original factory struts and torsion-bar suspension, as well as Cup struts and modern coilover systems (KW, Öhlins, Bilstein).

By eliminating bushing deflection, the system provides true, repeatable camber adjustment—up to approximately –1° depending on vehicle setup. Even a single degree of added negative camber produces a dramatic improvement in classic Porsche chassis behavior.

The result is noticeably more direct steering response, improved high-speed stability, and handling precision that holds steady under sustained load. Installing camber plates at the same time helps consolidate labor and can reduce overall installation costs.
