Numeric Racing Short Throw Shifter

Transform the shifting experience in your air-cooled Porsche with the Numeric Racing Short Throw Shifter. Engineered to replace the factory bushings and metal-to-metal pivot points with precision ball bearings, this upgrade eliminates the looseness, resistance, and play commonly found in the original shifter.

The result is a shorter, crisper, bolt-action shift with exceptional accuracy and a more modern, connected feel.

CNC-machined from aerospace-grade aluminum and supplied with stainless-steel hardware, the shifter is designed for long-term durability and worry-free operation. By removing unnecessary factory components, it is also approximately 30% lighter than the original assembly.

With two patented adjustable throw settings, drivers can choose between a race-focused 40% reduction or a slightly longer 33% reduction better suited to street use.

Patented Adjustable Shift Throw

Choose the shift feel that best suits your driving style:

40% throw reduction: Approximately 1.1 inches (2,5 cm) shorter per gear; ideal for racing and track use.
33% throw reduction: Slightly longer and better suited to street driving.

The throw is adjusted using two mounting positions on the shift lever:

Bottom hole: Shortest 40% setting.
Top hole: Longer 33% setting.

Numeric Racing's patented multi-position design offers a level of adjustability not available from conventional short-shift kits.

Precision Ball Bearings on Every Moving Axis

The factory shifter relies on bushings and metal-to-metal contact points that can develop resistance, looseness, and excessive play over time.

Numeric Racing replaces these wear-prone pivot points with precision ball bearings, creating smooth, accurate movement with virtually no play. The design also eliminates the factory forward shift rod, allowing for greater adjustability and significantly shorter throws without interference from the heat shield.

Direct-Fit Installation

The shifter bolts directly into the vehicle without fabrication or permanent modifications and reuses the original shift boot.

Installation requires removal of the factory shift lever, tunnel tube, and forward rod. A vehicle lift is recommended.

In the 33% setting, the lever remains at approximately the original height and angle.
In the 40% setting, the lever sits approximately 1/2 inch (12 mm) higher than the factory shifter.

For easier installation and reduced labor time, we recommend pairing the shifter with the Numeric Racing Adjustable Shift Rod, part numberFVD424057.

Please note that compatibility with aftermarket “Golden Rods” cannot be guaranteed, as some versions may be slightly longer than the original factory rod.
