1973 RS-Style Backdate Hood for 1974–1994 Models

Planning a high-end lightweight backdate build? This Kevlar/carbon fiber long hood gives your Porsche 911 the classic appearance of the pre-1973 models while retaining mounting geometry designed for later air-cooled generations.

The exterior profile follows the distinctive long-hood design used on Porsche 911 models through 1973. The inner mounting points and hood latch configuration are designed around the 1974–1989 models. The hood can also be used for backdate conversions on Porsche 964 and 965 models produced from 1989–1994.

Manufactured in Europe by a OEM supplier from Porsche, this hood is constructed from a premium Kevlar and carbon fiber composite. The combination delivers an exceptional balance of low weight, high rigidity, dimensional stability, and impact resistance.

Carbon fiber provides strength, stiffness, and precise shape retention, while Kevlar fibers improve impact resistance and help reduce the risk of cracking under mechanical stress. This premium body panel is made to order. Proper manufacturing, laminating, and curing require time. Estimated lead times typically range from 15–30 days depending on production scheduling and destination.

Because air-cooled Porsche vehicles were partially hand-built and may have natural dimensional variations, final installation may require:

Surface preparation before painting or sealing
Panel-gap inspection and adjustment
Test fitting
Hinge shimming or alignment
Minor finishing work

Professional installation is strongly recommended. Installation should be performed by a body shop experienced with carbon fiber, Kevlar, and composite body panels.
