Porsche 964 Cylinder Head – 1st Generation (1989 to Early 1990)

Designed for Porsche 964 engines of the 1st generation that continue to use the original cylinders.

When Porsche later introduced the new generation of cylinder heads, replacement of the pistons and cylinders was also specified. After the technical revision of the cylinders and cylinder heads, Porsche only offered the new generation as a replacement.

We offer both versions.

If you want to retain the original1st-generation cylinders, this is the correct cylinder head for your engine.

Supplied Fully Prepared

Our cylinder heads are supplied with valve guides and valve seats fully installed and machined, matching the original configuration in all relevant mounting and interface areas.

The original valves and other components, such as studs, can be reused.

No additional modifications are required to install our cylinder heads.

Each cylinder head is CNC-machined from a solid billet of a high-strength, thermally stable aluminum alloy.

Optimized Airflow

The port and combustion chamber geometry has been optimized for improved airflow.

Benefits include:

• up to 10% higher airflow compared with OE cylinder heads
• optimized intake and exhaust flow
• increased potential for engine power
• an improved foundation for high-performance engine builds

Technical Note

When assembling the cylinder heads to the engine, the squish clearance must be checked and measured carefully.

Our cylinder heads are 0.5 mm taller than the OE version in overall head height, independent of the combustion chamber.

This provides additional material for future resurfacing, allowing the cylinder heads to be reconditioned multiple times during later engine rebuilds.

Structurally critical areas have also been reinforced. The valve areas are wider, and the airflow nose has been machined with additional material. This improves strength while supporting efficient airflow.

Custom Motorsport Versions

For motorsport applications, we can also manufacture custom cylinder heads to customer specifications.

Available modifications may include:

• custom intake and exhaust port machining and geometry
• custom port diameters at the cylinder head outlet
• application-specific airflow optimization
• additional motorsport-specific modifications

Important Compatibility Note:

For a 3.8-liter conversion, or when rebuilding a 3.6-liter engine using the later-generation cylinders, the corresponding later-generation cylinder heads must also be used.
