Background
This copper-plated hex flange nut is engineered for components exposed to extreme heat, vibration, and thermal cycling—common in exhaust systems, turbochargers, and other high-performance applications. The copper plating resists corrosion and seizing under high temperatures, while the flange acts like a washer to distribute clamping force over a broader area and protect the mating surface. The self-locking design deforms or compresses onto the threads, preventing loosening under vibration or repeated thermal expansion and contraction. Usage
It secures exhaust manifolds, turbo housings, heat shields, and other high-temperature components. It is a single-use fastener: once removed, the locking deformation is compromised and the nut will no longer reliably secure the part. Reusing the nut can lead to exhaust leaks, rattling heat shields, or even turbochargers coming loose. Always replace the nut whenever the component is removed and torque it to the manufacturer's specifications. Installation and torque should be performed by a certified Porsche specialist to ensure safety and performance.
